Description

Born in 1902 Erno Goldfinger was a visionary Hungarian architect who moved to London in 1934. After the war he became central to the story of British Modernism through his role creating new homes for London’s post war communities.

Trellick Tower in Kensal Town, sister of Balfron Tower, was completed in 1972 and became the tallest social housing block in Europe.  The 98m, 31 storey structure is iconic for its bold concrete frame with slender service tower, linked by precast access bridges  at every third floor.  It gained Grade II listed status in 1998 and is now one of Britain’s best known examples of Brutalist architecture.

concreteSHED are a creative artisan business based in East London. They make collectable limited edition architectural sculptures of some of London’s most iconic Brutalist buildings.

Each tower is hand cast, combining traditional techniques with modern high-grade materials, because of this every cast in the edition is totally unique.  Made from Jesmonite, a modern composite that has similar properties to the new concretes that were devised during the 1960’s and made this new exciting architecture possible.
